Owolabi Ayowole, Awwal — Analytical chemist & PhD researcher

I develop robust, data-driven analytical methods at the intersection of chemistry, public health, and environmental sustainability — focusing on real-world applications that improve food safety, environmental monitoring, and chemical-threat detection.

If I don’t reply immediately, I’m probably negotiating peace with my calibration curve — I always respond before equilibrium is reached.

Professional summary

I am Owolabi Ayowole, a PhD student at South Dakota State University, where my research focuses on developing innovative analytical solutions at the intersection of chemistry, public health, and environmental sustainability.

I’m an Analytical chemist with expertise in chromatographic and mass-spectrometric method development (GC-MS/MS, LC-MS/MS, HPLC). My research covers biomass conversion, waste-to-wealth technologies, cannabinoid profiling, cyanide and thiocyanate analysis in environmental and biological matrices, and sensitive mycotoxin detection.

I have worked across Nigeria, the United Kingdom, and the United States, including a funded research visit to the University of Edinburgh, and I combine industrial quality-management experience with rigorous academic method development.

Research areas

Biomass Conversion

Transforming organic feedstocks into biofuels and value-added chemicals.

Waste-to-Wealth

Converting industrial and agricultural waste into useful resources and products.

Cyanide & Thiocyanate Analysis

Accurate detection in mining wastewater and biological samples for environmental and clinical safety.

Cannabinoid Profiling

Chromatographic separation and quantitative analysis for potency and compliance testing.

Mycotoxin Detection

Sensitive testing for aflatoxin and fumonisin in food and agricultural matrices.

Method Development

Designing and validating GC-MS/MS and LC-MS/MS workflows for precise quantitation.
